    何华武说，京沪高铁是我国《中长期铁路网规划》中投资规模最大、技术含量最高的一项工程，静态投资每公里为1亿元人民币，正线全长约1318公里，与既有京沪铁路的走向大体并行，设计时速350公里，初期运营时速300公里，途经京、津、沪及河北、山东、安徽、江苏四省，共设北京南、天津西、新济南、新徐州、新蚌埠、南京南、虹桥(上海)站等21个客运车站。

    “京沪高铁建成后，将实现客货运分离，届时北京到上海直达只需5小时，将比目前京沪铁路上的直达列车缩短9小时，而且列车发车时间短，高峰期将实现3分钟一列，确保旅客随时乘坐、随时有座位。”

    至于票价，何华武说，预计会比飞机与公路客运便宜，比目前京沪铁路的票价则会高一些。“它仍然是大众化的交通工具，高速、高安全性、高舒适度、高准点运行，同时老百姓也坐得起，非常适合百姓乘坐。”

    据介绍，京沪高速铁路全立交和全封闭，既方便沿线群众、车辆通行，又可确保高速列车运行安全。全线尽可能采用以桥代路方式，以最大限度节约土地资源。
