惠城：用5年时间跻身珠三角地级市中心城区前列

惠州市惠城区地处东江中下游平原区，是惠州市政府所在地和中心区，下辖10个街道办事处和8个镇，总面积1471平方公里，人口107万，是一座历史名城、山水丽城、数码名城、活力新城。千百年来，一直是东江流域的政治、经济、军事、文化中心，素有"岭南名郡"、"粤东门户"、"半城山色半城湖"之美誉。近年来，该区打造了"中国男装名城"、"全国电子信息产业基地"、"中国照明电器品牌基地"等区域品牌，先后获得了"全国科技进步示范区"、"全国造林绿化先进单位"、"全国民政工作先进区"、"全国信访工作先进集体"、"全国残疾人社区康复示范区"、"全国儿童工作先进区"、"全国婚育新风进万家活动先进区"、"全国村民自治模范区"等一批国家级荣誉称号。2008年，该区提出了新的发展思路，全力实施"一三五"工程，计划用5年的时间，使该区的经济总量、发展水平、环境承载量，位居珠三角地级市的中心城区前列。
