2007年8月，北京奥运会棒球比赛场地--五棵松棒球场验收交付，该场馆于8月18日举办“好运北京”2007国际棒球邀请赛。为了节省成本，体育场的主体部分采用钢架结构，放弃了传统的钢筋混凝土结构。
