　　建设开工时间：2005年5月28日

　　赛后功能：作为北京市一流体育设施，将成为集体育竞赛、文化娱乐于一体，提供多功能服务的市民活动中心。

　　2008年奥运会的国家体育馆完工交付使用了。体育馆屋顶曲面近似扇形如行云流水般飘逸又富于动感，四周竖向分部的钢骨架与大面积晶莹剔透的玻璃幕墙相映衬，犹如一把张开的中国折扇，彰显出中国文化的内涵。
